Abstract: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara harga diri, dan penggunaan media sosial dengan citra tubuh pengguna media sosial Instagram usia 18-24 Tahun. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 131 partisipan yang diambil menggunakan accidental sampling. Alat ukur Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire–Appearance Scales (MBSRQ–AS) digunakan untuk mengukur citra tubuh, Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale digunakan untuk mengukur harga diri, dan Social media active level (SMACTIVE) and engagement level (SMENGAGE) digunakan untuk mengukur penggunaan media sosial. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan hubungan antara citra tubuh dengan harga diri pada dimensi evaluasi penampilan, orientasi penampilan dan skala kepuasan bentuk tubuh. Juga citra tubuh dengan penggunaan media sosial pada dimensi orientasi penampilan dan preokupasi kelebihan berat badan. Namun, tidak ada hubungan antara citra tubuh dengan harga diri pada dimensi preokupasi kelebihan berat badan dan self-classified weight. Juga tidak terdapat hubungan antara citra tubuh dengan penggunaan media sosial pada dimensi evaluasi penampilan, skala kepuasan area tubuh, dan self-classified weight. Implikasi penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan program tentang harga diri, dan penggunaan media sosial serta mempromosikan hubungan peningkatan harga diri dan penggunaan media sosial pada citra tubuh remaja. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social media use with body image among female social media users aged 18-24 years. The sample in this study amounted to 131 participants who were taken using accidental sampling. The Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire–Appearance Scales (MBSRQ–AS) was used to measure body image, the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale was used to measure self-esteem, and the Social media active level (SMACTIVE) and engagement level (SMENGAGE) was used to measure social media use. This study found a relationship between body image and self-esteem in the dimensions of appearance evaluation, appearance orientation and body shape satisfaction scale. Also a relationship between body image with the use of social media on the dimensions of appearance orientation and overweight preoccupation. However, there is no relationship between body image and self-esteem on the dimensions of preoccupation with overweight and self-classified weight. There is also no relationship between body image and social media use on the dimensions of appearance evaluation, body area satisfaction scale, and self-classified weight. The implication of this study is to develop programs about self-esteem, and social media use and promote the relationship between increased self-esteem and social media use on adolescent body image. |
