Abstract: | Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi representasi kepercayaan diri pada individu masa dewasa awal yang aktif menggunakan media sosial Instagram. Tujuannya adalah untuk memahami bagaimana representasi kepercayaan diri pengguna media sosial Instagram. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus, partisipan berjumlah 2 orang yang diperoleh melalui teknik purpose sampling dengan kriteria partisipan berusia 18-25 tahun, membuka aplikasi Instagram dengan total durasi minimal 3 jam per hari dan membagikan konten minimal 3 kali dalam satu minggu. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara semi terstruktur. Metode analisa data adalah pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi data. Uji keabsahan data adalah uji kredibilitas, uji transferabilitas, uji depenabilitas, dan uji konfirmabilitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan beberapa tema yang merujuk pada representasi kepercayaan diri individu yang aktif menggunakan media sosial Instagram. Tema-tema tersebut antara lain: (a) Achievement, (b) Self-Expression, (c) Community & Support, (d) Self-Image, dan (e) Personal Branding, yang menjadi pembahasan utama dari penelitian ini. Instagram memainkan peran besar dalam pembentukan representasi kepercayaan diri individu masa dewasa awal. Platform ini memungkinkan self-expression, community & support, pembentukan self-image, dan pengembangan personal branding yang kuat. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tema-tema utama seperti achievement, self-expression, support, self-image, dan personal branding berperan penting dalam representasi kepercayaan diri individu yang aktif menggunakan media sosial Instagram, terutama pada individu dewasa awal. Implikasinya menyoroti pentingnya literasi media sosial yang memungkinkan pengguna untuk memahami lebih baik tentang pengaruh media sosial terkait persepsi diri individu terhadap konsep kepercayaan diri, serta mengembangkan interaksi positif di dalam mau pun di luar platform online. This research explores the representation of self-confidence in early adulthood individuals who actively use Instagram social media. The aim is to comprehend how the representation of self-confidence of Instagram social media users. Qualitative research method using a case study approach, 2 participants were obtained through purpose sampling technique with the criteria of being aged 18-25, opened the Instagram application with a total duration of at least 3 hours daily, and shared content at least thrice a week. Data collection techniques using semi-structured interviews. Data analysis methods are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and data verification. Data validity tests are credibility test, transferability test, depenability test, and confirmability test. The results showed several themes that refer to the representation of self-confidence of individuals who actively use Instagram social media. These themes include: (a) Achievement, (b) Self-Expression, (c) Community & Support, (d) Self-Image, and (e) Personal Branding, which is the main discussion of this research. Instagram plays a big role in shaping the representation of early adulthood individuals' self-confidence. The platform enables self-expression, community & support, self-image formation, and the development of strong personal branding. The conclusion of this study shows that prominent themes such as achievement, self-expression, support, self-image, and personal branding play an important role in the representation of self-confidence of individuals who actively use Instagram social media, especially in early adulthood. The implications highlight the importance of social media literacy that enables users to comprehend the impact of social media on personal self-perception on the concept of self-confidence, as well as develop positive interactions within and beyond the online platform. |
