Abstract: | The development of the hotel industry is increasing rapidly along with the increase in the tourism industry, but on the other hand the hotel industry is one of the sectors that mostly adds to the burden on the environment. As a result, there are many environmental problems faced by the hospitality tourism industry, therefore there is an increase in capacity to meet expectations for environmental problems and implement sustainable business practices, one of which is the application of Green Human Resource Management practices to achieve industry excellence and competition. Green Human Resource Management is a program that helps create a green workforce that can understand and appreciate green culture in an organization that requires high level technical and management skills in employees. This study aims to determine the application of green HRM in supporting green hotel business strategies and to find out which green hotel business strategies can survive during the global Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses qualitative data obtained through in-depth interviews with a number of key informants, as well as observations in the front of the house, back of the house and hotel locations. The research was conducted as a case study at an international hospitality company that has a reputation for being environmentally friendly in Indonesia. The results of the study show that the implementation of green HRM practices in supporting the green hotel business strategy of the Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta has been well implemented starting from employee selection (Green Selection) to carrying out green human resource planning practices in its policies and operations, there are no rules. specifically related to green recruitment (Green Recruitment), providing best practice on environmentally friendly activities in green training (Green Training and Development), green performance evaluation (Green Performance Evaluation) has been implemented in the environmental management system and this policy is carried out every 6 months, green compensation (Green Reward) by providing financial and non-financial rewards, green employee relations (Green Employee Relations) by implementing joint environmental maintenance activities. Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta's green hotel business was able to survive during the global covid-19 pandemic by implementing an energy efficiency strategy policy: using energy-efficient equipment and equipment both electricity, gas, diesel, and making various changes through a business diversification strategy: grab wheel, Angkringan Hyatt, Night Driving Range, Off road ATV Arena, as well as maintaining the brand image as a green hotel. Management implements an energy efficiency strategy, so that it does not go bankrupt as a result of bearing large operational costs in terms of energy. This strategy is implemented by considering cost efficiency in supporting the green hotel program in a sustainable manner, especially in terms of saving water consumption, energy consumption, non-renewable resources, and reducing the production and disposal of waste into the natural surroundings. |
