Stunting is a nutritional problem in developing countries that causes motor, cognitive, and growth disorders, decreased productivity, and increased disease risk. Temanggung Regency, the district with the highest prevalence of stunting no. 2 in Central Java, was 28.9% higher than the national figure. This study aims to determine responsive feeding practices, energy density intake, and their relationship with stunting in children aged 24 – 59 months in Temanggung Regency. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design in March 2024 in Temanggung Regency. The study sample was 61 samples selected based on purposive sampling. The independent variables of this study were responsive feeding practice and the energy density intake which was collected using a questionnaire and a 24-hour food recall form. The dependent variable in this study was height-for-age nutritional status which was collected by measuring body height using a microtoise and a stadiometer with an accuracy of 0,1 cm, and then processed using The WHO Anthro Software. Analysis of the data using univariate and bivariate tests with the spearman test for responsive feeding practice and the pearson test for energy density intake. The study found that 24 toddlers with 7 toddlers had poor responsive feeding practice and experienced stunting, then 36 toddlers with 8 toddlers had high energy intake density and experienced stunting. The results of the analysis show that there is no significant relationship between the implementation of responsive feeding and energy density intake and height-for-age nutritional status. The factors of responsive feeding practice and energy density intake with the incidence of stunting indicate that other factors such as parenting patterns and maternal food choices may be more influential, so further research is needed to identify effective interventions.
