This research aims to determine the existence of print media in the era of digital disruption among young people using Uses and Gratification Theory analysis. The analysis uses principles from the Uses & Gratification Theory, namely cognitive, affective, personal integration and social integration needs. The research subjects were several young people who were active in reading news both online and through print media. The research method used descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with three sources. The research results show that the choice of information media is driven by cognitive, affective, personal integration and social integration needs. Research found that the use of print media among young people has decreased significantly with the presence of digital media which is considered more practical and efficient in accessing information. It was also found that young people's interest in reading has decreased because the tendency of young people to read the news is based on the point of the news, supported by the characteristics of digital media which are considered more attractive in terms of visuality, including images, videos and designs that are attractive to young people. These things influence the level of satisfaction of young people in reading news via digital media which is higher than print media. |
