Abstract: This study examines the causal effect of diversity practices, policies and program on carrier success. The variables are diversity practices (management, policies/ resource, administration, training and development), barrier to diversity, and carrier success. This objective based on current state of organizational practices supporting workforce diversity and the movement of women into higher management. Prominent barriers to upward mobility for woman are identified as were the practices associated with diminished impact of these barriers. These practices suggest specific opportunities for senior managers and human resource professionals to promote diversity effectiveness. The model was developed based on findings and conceptualizations of previous related studies. The cross-sectional study was conducted from September to November 2001 with 127 participant. Result, based on path analysis using AMOS 3.6, indicates that the model tested had an acceptable fit. The goodness-of-it index (GFI) is 0.996 and adjusted goodness-of-it index (AGFI) which control for degree of freedom, was 0.911. Root mean square residual (RMSR) is 0.006. The implication of results for future research on diversity practice are provided.
