The objective of this study is to elucidate the significance of contemporary natural resource management, with a particular focus on the conservation of forest ecosystems in Central Kalimantan. The findings of this research may assist readers in developing an awareness of the significance of maintaining and utilising the environment in a prudent manner. The research on multi-party partnerships in forest ecosystem preservation in Central Kalimantan employed qualitative methods and descriptive qualitative data analysis. Central Kalimantan is home to a vast forest area of 12,279,803.62 hectares, yet the twin threats of deforestation and forest fires continue to pose a significant challenge. The highest number of fires was recorded in 2015, with a total area affected of 583,833 hectares. Deforestation is caused by land conversion for plantations, mining, and fires due to human activities, which results in environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity, and a decline in the quality of life for local communities. The conservation of forest ecosystems necessitates the involvement of multiple stakeholders, including governmental, non-governmental, private sector, and community actors. This is in accordance with the 1945 Constitution and Law No. 41/1999 on Forestry. The enhancement of community awareness and participation is of paramount importance for the optimisation of conservation effectiveness. It is anticipated that coordinated efforts and cooperation from various parties will facilitate the preservation of Central Kalimantan forest ecosystems for future generations, thereby conferring ecological, economic, and social benefits upon local and global communities. |
