Abstract: This study discussed students' perspectives toward silence in the classroom. The aim of this study is to answer the research question, “What is ED students' view of silence in the classroom?” Six students of English Department of Satya Wacana Christian University were selected to be the participants of this study because of the limited of time. Four themed interview questions were asked to get ED students' general idea of silence in the classroom. The result of the study revealed that students do not always view silent students as ones who do nothing in class, but also it is how they learn a lesson. However, students also view silent as Indonesian culture that is already embedded in Indonesian students' mind. Pedagogical implication suggested by this study is that teachers will have to be more open minded about how they have to react regarding the students' behavior itself.
