Abstract: | –Dalam era digital saat ini, akses yang aman dan andal terhadap data menjadi penting, terutama dalam lingkungan pendidikan seperti Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan mengimplementasikan transmisi data melalui Virtual Private Network (VPN) menggunakan protokol PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol), L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol), IPSec (Internet Protocol Security), dan SSTP (Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol) dari Kampus Fakultas Teknologi Informasi (FTI) ke Kampus Utama Universitas Kristen satya Wacana (UKSW). Dalam konteks globalisasi dan perkembangan teknologi informasi, keamanan dan keandalan transmisi data antar lokasi, terutama dalam institusi pendidikan seperti universitas. Penelitian menekankan pada penerapan beragam protokol VPN untuk membandingkan kinerja, keamanan, dan kehandalan masing-masing. Semua protokol VPN yang digunakan mampu mengamankan transmisi data dengan baik. Namun, terdapat perbedaan dalam hal kecepatan, overhead, dan kompleksitas konfigurasi antara masing-masing protokol. PPP menunjukkan kehandalan yang tinggi namun memiliki overhead yang cukup besar, sementara L2TP memberikan keseimbangan antara keamanan dan kinerja. IPSec menawarkan tingkat keamanan yang tinggi namun memerlukan konfigurasi yang lebih kompleks. SSTP menyediakan koneksi yang aman dan mudah dikonfigurasi, namun mungkin memiliki beberapa keterbatasan dalam kinerja. In the current digital era, secure and reliable access to data is important, especially in educational environments such as Satya Wacana Christian University. This research aims to explore and implement data transmission via Virtual Private Network (VPN) using the PPP (Point-to) protocol -Point Protocol), L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol), IPSec (Internet Protocol Security), and SSTP (Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol) from the Faculty of Information Technology (FTI) Campus to the Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW) Main Campus. In the context of globalization and the development of information technology, the security and reliability of data transmission between locations, especially in educational institutions such as universities. The research emphasizes the application of various VPN protocols to compare the performance, security, and reliability of each. All VPN protocols used are able to secure data transmission well. However, there are differences in speed, overhead, and configuration complexity between each protocol. PPP shows high reliability but has considerable overhead, while L2TP provides a balance between security and performance. IPSec offers a high level of security but requires more complex configuration. SSTP provides a secure connection and is easy to configure, but may have some limitations in performance. |
