This study aims to design a community park in two types of residential areas in Salatiga City: a planned settlement located on Jl. Abiyoso Dukuh, PNS Prajamukti Housing, Dukuh Subdistrict, Sidomukti District, and an unplanned settlement on Jl. Bulu Sari Raya, Tegalrejo, Argomulyo District, Salatiga City, Central Java. These two locations have distinct physical and social characteristics; therefore, the park design must be adapted to the biophysical conditions of each site and the preferences of the local community. The methods used include descriptive statistical analysis to understand community perceptions, spatial analysis to assess geographic and spatial conditions, and Temperature Humidity Index (THI) analysis to evaluate thermal comfort levels. Data were collected through field observation, questionnaire distribution, documentation, and measurement of air temperature and humidity at each research site. The results show that the land in the planned settlement (528 m²) has a low level of thermal comfort (categorized as "uncomfortable") due to the lack of shading vegetation. In contrast, the land in the unplanned settlement (2,496 m²) shows a higher level of thermal comfort due to the presence of dense vegetation. Public perception generally reflects dissatisfaction with the environmental aesthetics. The types of parks most desired by the community are children's parks, sports parks, and flower gardens. Based on these findings, three design concepts were developed for each location, considering spatial zoning, vegetation planning, and the provision of supporting facilities according to user needs. The results of this design are expected to serve as a reference for the Salatiga City Government in optimizing vacant land into public spaces that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable for the community.
