Abstract: Mahasiswa perantauan seringkali menghadapi berbagai tantangan akademik dan sosial, yang dapat memengaruhi kesejahteraan mental mereka. Salah satu faktor yang dapat membantu mereka mengatasi tantangan ini adalah dukungan sosial, yang memiliki peran penting dalam membangun belas kasih terhadap diri sendiri atau self-compassion. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara dukungan sosial dan self-compassion di kalangan mahasiswa rantau asal luar Pulau Jawa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan desain yang bersifat korelasional. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 111 mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi UKSW yang berasal dari luar Pulau Jawa. Proses pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) dan Self-Compassion Scale (SCS). Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara dukungan sosial dan self-compassion (r = 0,557, p < 0,001) menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi dukungan sosial mahasiswa rantau asal luar Jawa, maka semakin tinggi self-compassion yang dimiliki.
Overseas students often face various academic and social challenges, which can affect their mental well-being. One factor that can help them overcome these challenges is social support, which has an important role in building self-compassion. This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and self-compassion among overseas students from outside Java Island. The research method used is a quantitative method with a correlational design. The research sample consisted of 111 students of the Faculty of Psychology UKSW who came from outside Java. The data collection process was carried out using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) questionnaires. Data analysis using Pearson correlation test showed that there is a significant positive relationship between social support and self-compassion (r = 0.557, p < 0.001) indicating that the higher the social support of overseas students from outside Java, the higher the self-compassion they have.
