Abstract: | Perguruan tinggi merupakan organisasi yang memberikan jasa kepada masyarakat berupa layanan pendidikan tinggi. Produk atau bisnis utama dari perguruan tinggi adalah ilmu pengetahuan yang diberikan kepada masyarakat melalui proses belajar-mengajar dan penelitian. Masyarakat pengguna jasa perguruan tinggi adalah mahasiswa, sedangkan unit bisnis dari perguruan tinggi adalah fakultas, yang berupaya menghasilkan produk dengan mengelola berbagai sumber daya yang ada. Kemampuan bersaing suatu perguruan tinggi turut ditentukan oleh kinerja setiap fakultas yang ada di dalamnya. Namun pada kenyataannya tidak semua fakultas menunjukkan kinerja yang sama. Ada fakultas yang menunjukkan kinerja lebih menonjol dibanding fakultas lainnya. Hal ini disebabkan karena setiap fakultas memiliki kemampuan yang berbeda dalam mengelola sumber daya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kemampuan internal yang melatarbelakangi perbedaan kinerja Fakultas Ekonomika dan Bisnis (FEB) dengan fakultas-fakultas lain di UKSW. Hal ini dilakukan dengan menganalisis value chain dari FEB, yaitu rangkaian aktivitas atau atribut yang diselenggarakan atau dimiliki FEB dalam rangka menghasilkan nilai bagi mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa value chain FEB terdiri dari lima atribut utama dan empat atribut pendukung. Atribut utama terdiri dari: service design, knowledge management, delivery system management, moment of truth management, dan service competition management. Sedangkan atribut pendukung terdiri dari: people/human resource management, process information, physical aspects, serta punctuality and reliability. Secara keseluruhan FEB memiliki kinerja yang baik karena didukung oleh kinerja yang baik pula dari setiap mata rantai dalam value chain. University are organizations that provide services to the community in the form of higher education services. The main business or product of the university is knowledge, which is given to the community through teaching and learning process, and research. Service user of the university are students, while the business unit of the university is the faculty, which is attempted generate product by managing various existing resources. Competitiveness of a university is determined by the performance of each faculty owned by the university. In fact, not all faculty giving the same performance. There are faculty who demonstrate a more prominent performance than other faculty. This is because every faculty has different capabilities in managing resources. This study aims to identify the internal capabilities underlying differences in Faculty of Economics and Business performance with other faculty of the institution. This is done by analyzing the value chain of FEB, that is a series of activities or attributes held or owned by FEB in order to delivering value for students. The results showed that the FEB's value chain consists of five primary attributes and four supporting attributes. Primary attributes consists of: service design, knowledge management, delivery system management, moment of truth management, and service competition management. While supporting attributes consists of people/human resource management, process information, physical aspects, punctuality and reliability. Overall, FEB has a good performance because it is supported by the good performance of each chain in the value chain. |
