Partisipasi Masyarakat dalam Pengelolaan Sampah di Dusun Sukunan Sleman Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Tahun 2009

Abstract

The research aims is to determine the form of community participation in waste management Sukunan seen from the perception of society Sukunan towards waste management, community motivation to participate and the activities of community participation in waste management. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected using observation, indepth interview, and discussion. Triangulation technique was applied to obtain validity. The sampling technique was based on purposive sampling and snowball. Data were analyzed using interactive analysis. The result shows that the form of community participation in waste management is Sukunan facilitation, a form of intentional community participation, designed and driven as a process of learning and doing by the public to complete an activity together. With facilitation, the community is positioned as himself, so he was motivated to participate and do his best. The result of interviews and observations indicate a positive perception of society Sukunan to waste management activities can be seen from the increasing awareness, willingness and ability of people to manage waste. Community motivation to participate, among other things: motivation of yourself to gain knowledge and insight, the reason for the economic, environmental hygiene factors, limited land and environmental preservation. Activities Sukunan community participation in waste management are: sorting, transporting, processing, develop and contribute to environmental conservation
