Desain Besar Penataan Daerah dan Dinamika Identitas Budaya di Propinsi Papua Barat

Abstract

This article tries to elaborate implications of grand design planning of the Indonesia Government in Papua, especially in the province of West Papua towards cultural identity of Papua which are heterogenic and dynamic. The set up are which is associated with expansion areas make a new interconnection identity space of culture of Papua society with a new culture that brought by expansion areas planning. In these moments, conflict occur which is dominated by political economy contestation. Yet, one of the biggest challenges on expansion areas is whether return to the originality of Papua culture based ethnicity or think for the outside world and a desire to always renew its cultural identity
