Abstract: Compensation is a reward granted by a company to its employees. Based on theories about compensation, fairness is a main aspect as it is the core of compensation. Compensation fairness consists of three types, which are internal, external, and individual. This study aims to discuss the views from employees toward equality of compensation that they receive and how the compensation fairness can affect their performance. This qualitative study was conducted using interview technique. The interviews were conducted with seven heads of divisions at Satya Wacana Christian University, Salatiga. This research shows that internal consideration is the major priority for the employees where they want equal reward for the same job. The result of this study also indicate that the perception of compensation fairness may affect work performance.
