Abstract: This study attempted to answer the research question “What are the students’ responses towards using vocabulary as a teaching technique to develop vocabulary?” Prior the data collection, five students from SMP Kanisius Girisonta Ungaran were taught and asked to make and learn new words/difficult words by means of vocabulary notebook strategy for approximately 3 months. The analysis showed that the students had positive responses about learning vocabulary using notebook. The students reported that they liked the vocabulary strategy by using vocabulary notebook since it helped them to learn new words easily and quickly. Moreover, the students view that the strategy made them to become autonomous learners than before (without using vocabulary notebook)
