Studi Cognitive Theory Of Multimedia Learning Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Bahasa Inggris Mahasiswa FTI UKSW

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah komponenkomponen Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning berperan meningkatkan hasil belajar bahasa Inggris mahasiswa FTI UKSW. Penggunaan komponen-komponen Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (words, pictures) disajikan dengan bantuan adobe flash & e-learning UKSW (flearn). Metode penelitian menggunakan mix methods concurrent embedded model dengan menggunakan dua pendekatan baik kualitatif maupun pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam dan tes Mata Kuliah Bahasa Inggris Dasar berupa midterm test dan final test. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji t 2 tailed dengan tingkat signifikansi 5% dan diperjelas menggunakan pendekatan difference in differences. Subyek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah Mahasiswa FTI kelas C dan I. Berdasarkan hasil pengumpulan data dan hasil analisis data diketahui bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar dari treatment sebesar 16 poin dari selisih kedua hasil nilai kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian maka H1 diterima, komponen-komponen CTML yang dibantu oleh media pembelajaran flearn dan adobe flash dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa FTI pada mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris Dasar.

This study aims to determine the extent to which the role of components of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning to increase students’ achievement FTI SWCU. The use of the components of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (word, picture, eyes, ears, sound, and image) is presented with the help of adobe flash and e-learning SWCU (flearn). The methods is mixed methods study of concurrent embedded models using two approaches both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection techniques used are in-depth interviews and the midterm test and final test of Bahasa Inggris Dasar Course. The data analysis using t test with significance level at 5% and to sharpen the difference it used difference-in-differences approach. Research subjects in this study were FTI students’ class C and I. Based on the results of data collection and data analysis results, there are 16 points difference from the experimental class and the control class result. Thus, H1 is accepted, the components CTML assisted by adobe flash and flearn can improve students’ achievement in a Bahasa Inggris Dasar course in FTI.
