Abstract: The Application of The Dominant Communication Patens Used By The Single Paent Mothers To Teen. Guidance and Counseling Program. Faculty of Education and Teacher Training. Satya Wacana Christian University. This research aims to understanding the application of the dominant communication patterns used by the single parent mothers to her teen. Qualitative research method using descriptive research and data analysis using content analysis. The subject of this study based on the research objectives (purposive sampling) and snowball sampling. Subject of research is the mother single parent due to divorce of life and death divorced and has adolescents aged between 13-18 years old. The technique of collecting data is using interviews, observation, and questionnaires. Data analysis technique used is the model of Miles and Huberman of data reduction, data presentation, conclusions and verification. Based on data analysis of the results to the application of the dominant communication patterns used by the Single Parent Mothers to her teen. The results showed that there is one of the most dominant communication pattens used by the three research participants single parent mothers, namely communication patterns equations. Application of communication pattens equation shown by the results of the four indicators in the pattern of family communication in general (DeVrto, 2009), namely: (1) Equality between family members. Single parent mothers provide a balanced and equitable portion for adolescents to provide arguments, opinions and views on par with single parent mothers. The conduct Communication are honestly, openly, directly and freely; (2) The familiy task divided among of the family member. The absence of separation of powers, making the domestic assignments can be done by any member of the family, in this case the teens and single parent mothers. So that the responsibilities of domestic assignments is seen as a joint task; (3) Decision-making in the family. Single parent mothers actively involve teens in decision-making, both experienced by single parent mothers and teens decisions regarding their own to find solutions together; (4) Flexibility and openness in family communication. Single parent mothers provide opportunities for teens evenly and balanced in the expression, the statement, citicism and feedback to each member of the family.
