Abstract: This study aims to investigate the types of grammatical errors found in eight graders in recount writing. The data were collected from 20 students' essays of their holiday experience. In analyzing the data, I used steps suggested by Corder (1974) applied by Ellis and Barkhuizen (2005). With this method, a native speaker teacher helps identify the grammatical errors in the students' work and these errors are later classiied based on Politzer and Ramirez's Linguistic Taxonomy (1973). Finally, based on the identification of errors, each category of errors was counted to find each proportion and explained and discussed.
