Abstract: Along with its function as a preserve area and one of the tourism sites in Jayapura, Youtefa Bay also provideslocal community’s needs. However, Jayapura’s development as the capital city of Papua Province brings negative impacts to the ecosystem that triggers changes in the area, especially in Youtefa Bay. These changes will affects all organisms in it including plankton. The main purpose of this research is to know plankton diversity and abundance in Youtefa Bay. Measured parameters include water temperature (°C), light penetration (m), acidity, dissolved oxygen (mg/l) and salinity (‰). Plankton diversity measured by Shannon-Wiener index (H’), alpha diversity, beta diversity, and gamma diversity, while the abundance measured by total individual of species found in the sampling locations. A total of 74 species from 51 genus, dominated by diatom (Bacillariophyta) from phytoplankton were identified. Coral reef area has the highest H’, while the estuary has the lowest H’.
