dc.description.abstract | Water use in the fields of new openings is very wasteful so that proper water management is needed to increase the growth, yield of rice and water productivity of new opened rice field in Kleseleon (the district of Malaka, Nusa Tenggara Timur). The objective of this research was to determine a) The effect of water management on the growth and yield of paddy, b) Is the water management of intermittent 1-1 with fertilizer recommendation resulted in the growth and yield of rice were not significantly different from the farmer’s practice and c) Water management which provide the highest water productivity. This study uses a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely (1) Inundation 3 cm continuously without fertilizer recommendation, (2) Inundation 3 cm continuously with fertilizer recommendations, (3) Intermittent (interrupted) 3 cm interval of 2-1 with a fertilizer recommendation, (4) Intermittent 3 cm 1-1 with fertilizer recommendation and (5) Macak-macak 0.5 cm with fertilizer recommendation. Analysis of the collected data using the method of analysis of variance followed by DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at 5% level. The results showed that water management in significant – very significant effect on plant height of 30 and 60 days after planting, tiller number 60 days after planting and harvest, number of panicles clump -1, heavy DGH and DMR, but had no significant effect on plant height before harvest, the number of tillers 30 days after planting, dry straw weight and weight of 1000 grains. Intermittent 1-1 with fertilizer recommendation aimlessly paddy rice growth and yield of new openings that are not significantly different from the flooding continuously with fertilizer recommendation views of all parameters. Macak-macak with fertilizer recommendations resulted the highest water productivity around 2.45 g liter -1 with the water savings equal to 9 x 106 liter season -1. | en_US |
