Abstract: | The purpose of this study was to determine the potential land degradation and landslide in the area of agricultural land of Boyolali district. The method used in this study was spatial analysis of the thematic maps of Boyolali districts. This analysis was conducted using Quantum GIS software version 2.8.2. Relevant data were extracted from the literature and secondary data from Boyolali District Board of Development Planning. Spatial analysis was based on the principles of agricultural regional planning as well as land degradation and landslide-triggering factors. The results were: 1) The relatively high level of agricultural land use in Boyolali district could be counteracted by the adequate number of farmers; 2) There was inappropriate land use in the areas with gradients of 15-40% and > 40% in which the dry land use was not suitable for agricultural production; 3) There was a conversion of non-production forest into agricultural land in the areas with gradients of 15-40%, and 4) The improper land use as well as land conversion had led to land degradation and potential landslide. |
